Henry Stonham, Senior Project Manager for Bar Convent Singapore (BCB Singapore) 2025, is no stranger to the global bar and beverage industry. His dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration in the Asian industry is evident through his leadership of BCB in Asia. As we get ever closer to the next highly anticipated Bar Convent Singapore in March 2025, Henry shares insights on what makes this event special and why Singapore is the perfect hub for bar professionals across the region.
What is BCB Singapore?
HS: BCB Singapore is a trade show, education platform, and comprehensive networking event for bar and beverage professionals across Asia, marking BCB's first footsteps in the region. Our event provides value in three key areas: an exhibition floor showcasing premium and innovative brands and products from across the globe, an extensive, multi-layered education programme, and a rich environment for networking among peers.
At the exhibition, we bring together suppliers and partners with a diverse range of offerings. From craft spirits to cutting-edge tools and equipment, it’s the ideal place for bartenders, business owners, and F&B professionals to explore everything they need for their venues. We’re fortunate to collaborate with some fantastic brands from around the world, creating a one-stop shop for attendees to find what’s essential for their bars or beverage programmes.
We also have a thorough educational programme that covers multiple facets. From keynote presentations by global industry icons to workshops and masterclasses, there’s something for everyone—whether it’s developing new skills or learning about the latest trends in spirits and cocktails. The liquid education sessions, where attendees can deepen their knowledge of various spirits, are always a highlight.
Finally, networking is a big part of the event. Imagine having your industry peers under one roof for two days—there’s so much opportunity for collaboration. Plus, Singapore's vibrant bar scene comes alive with guest bartender shifts and other activities, making it an exciting time for everyone involved.
What are the key features of BCB Singapore that make it stand out from other events?
HS: What sets it apart is its comprehensive nature—offering everything from a vast exhibition floor featuring suppliers and brands from all over the world to hands-on educational workshops, keynote presentations, and masterclasses. Whether you’re looking for premium spirits, craft mixers, or the latest bar technology, BCB Singapore brings it all under one roof.
Why is education such a big focus for BCB Singapore?
HS: Education is one of the core pillars of BCB Singapore. We believe that to grow as professionals, bartenders, business owners, and F&B professionals need access to the latest knowledge and skills. That’s why we offer a broad range of educational programmes—from seminars by global icons in the bar industry to hands-on workshops that improve essential, day-to-day technical skills. Our liquid education sessions are particularly popular, offering deep dives into spirits and how they can be used in future cocktails. It’s all about helping attendees stay at the forefront of their craft and industry trends.
How does BCB Singapore foster networking within the bar industry?
HS: Networking is a crucial element of BCB Singapore. We bring together all types of professionals from across the bar industry, whether they’re bartenders, suppliers, consultants or business owners. Having everyone under one roof allows for countless interactions and conversations that can lead to long-term business relationships. Beyond the event itself, we also host targeted activities like guest bartender shifts at local bars and experiential gatherings for the trade, creating further opportunities for people to connect, share ideas, and collaborate in a less formal, more social setting.
Why is Singapore such a key location for BCB?
HS: Over the past 10 to 15 years, Singapore has emerged as a beacon for the Asian bar community. Despite its relatively small size, it has developed a world-class bar scene with many global industry icons having contributed towards this meteoric rise. Singapore’s multicultural society brings together people from different backgrounds, helping shape a truly diverse and innovative bar scene.
The city’s strategic location also makes it an ideal meeting point for professionals across Asia. It's easily accessible and provides a platform for learning, sharing, and growth. The regional bar industry can come together here to learn from each other, share ideas and apply those lessons in their respective home markets.
What can we expect from BCB Singapore 2025?
HS: Our aim for 2025 is to go bigger and better. We’re building on the strong foundations of the previous event while broadening our outreach to the wider community across Asia. We want to help each country and market develop, addressing their unique needs and challenges, to ensure that opportunities for growth are available to all. This year, we’re excited to introduce BCB ambassadors in 6 selected markets – Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, South Kore and Thailand. These ambassadors will carry the values of BCB and act as our voice in their national communities, helping us to stay connected and in-tune with the needs of bar professionals across Asia.
