Steps To Make Your Bar More Eco-Friendly

Simple steps, such as eliminating the use of plastic straws for cocktail drinks, can go a long way. Here's a closer look at some of the small and large steps you can take to make your bar more eco-friendly.

One simple step that bars can take to reduce their environmental impact is to eliminate plastic straws and paper napkins. Some bars have started using paper, bamboo, or compostable straws, while others have done away with straws entirely. Instead of providing disposable paper napkins with every drink, bars could use reusable leather or cork coasters, which would eliminate the need for a new napkin with each drink and may also be incorporated into the bar's branding.

Additionally, if the bar is part of a restaurant, it may be possible to recycle or upcycle food from the bar and kitchen, such as using citrus rinds from tropical cocktails in kitchen creations or using leftover juice to make syrups and cordials. The goal is to find multiple uses for any food that the bar uses.
