The Straits Times seeks out six bartenders who are winning over customers with both their personalities and skills - and who are as appealing as the drinks they serve.

In the same way that the character Sam Malone from the TV show Cheers (1982 to 1993) was more than just a competent bartender, the standout bartenders in Singapore's bar scene go above and beyond their duties as mixologists. As Singapore's bar scene recovers from pandemic restrictions, The Straits Times has identified six bartenders who are winning customers over with their personalities and skills, as well as the appealing drinks they serve.

This update builds on the progress made by the industry through the Environmental Strategy, launched in 2009. As a result of these efforts, the Scotch industry has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 34%, increased its use of non-fossil fuel sources to 28%, and used water more efficiently. Additionally, only 1% of waste from Scotch production is now sent to landfills, a decrease of 75% since 2016.
